COPA Gets Initial Triumph in Trial Against Craig Wright

On Thursday, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA) obtained its first triumph against Craig Wright (a computer scientist). Although the UK-based presiding judge announced that the person is not Bitcoin’s creator “Satoshi Nakamoto,” the legal fight has not ended yet. COPA pursues the implementation of the court orders to restrict the ability of Wright to prosecute others.

Court Favors COPA by Declaring that Craig Wright Is Not Bitcoin Creator

He has pursued several lawsuits in which he claimed rights to the Bitcoin Technology, Bitcoin Whitepaper, and Bitcoin stashes. In addition to this, Wright has also raised allegations of defamation against his targets. A spokesperson from the famous crypto exchange Kraken also spoke on this. As per the spokesperson, the decision has eliminated Wright’s trustworthiness to keep on claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto.

Kraken is defending against one of the suits that Wright has filed. COPA intends to ensure the restriction of Wright’s claims for Bitcoin’s authorship. It has also requested the court to stop Wright from suing other crypto community members. However, the injunctions can potentially be argued separately. Additionally, COPA attorneys also plan to ask prosecutors whether Wright lied when attempting to convince them he was the Bitcoin creator.

The respective judgment will present the evidence, such as fraud allegations and forty-six allegations regarding evidence forgery. It is currently uncertain if the court will stop him from claiming Nakamoto.

The Decision May Influence Wright’s Existing Lawsuits against Coinbase and Kraken

Louise Abbott added that this victory should greatly push some of the existing lawsuits in the crypto community’s favour. This would also weaken Wright’s claims against Coinbase and Kraken. He accused the exchanges of not trading Bitcoin, but his intellectual possessions. However, Kraken believes he will not stop prosecuting crypto community participants.
