The developers on the Ethereum network released an exclusive testnet named “Holešky,” on 15 September. As per the expectations, the platform’s potential use cases take into account staking, along with protocol and infrastructure development, as per the developer documents. The position of the Sepolia network will still be dominant in the case of application development.

Ethereum Introduces Exclusive Testnet Entitled ‘Holešky’ to Enable New Features

On the day of Holešky’s launch, Holešky testnet Ether’s (HETH) early supply of nearly 1.6B will deal with validators. This will bootstrap the operations of the network, as per Tim Beiko (a prominent developer at Ethereum). This denotes ten times the figure of ETH tokens existing on the mainnet. The developer mentioned that developers had comfort in developing this figure because devnets keep on continuously utilizing ten billion supply.

Formerly, the use cases of the Goerli testnet included testing the exclusive staking, protocol, as well as infrastructure developments. The status of Goerli is that of the oldest testnet on Ethereum that is functioning. The launch of this testnet took place back in the year 2018. In October, the developers of the protocol started complaining about Goerli ETH’s substantially low supply.

Due to this, the adequate tackling of the testing requirements was witnessing obstacles. Keeping in view HETH’s initial large supply, it is expected that Holešky will assist in alleviating this issue. Since the launch of Sepolia back in the year 2021, the developer team of Ethereum has been persuading app developers.

The New Testnet’s Unique Features Focus on Offering Economic Node Operations and Decreased Fees

It has been pushing them to shift from Goerli testnet to Sepolia. Hence, solely protocol developers remained on the old network before Holešky’s launch. The team intends to deprecate Goerli in 2024’s January. Holešky possesses features such as danksharding, proto-danksharding, Verkle trees, and other features that will potentially minimize fees. These features will make node operations less expensive.
